Art Inc. Art awards is the brain child of Renu Rana, director of the Art Inc. The journey of this award started over a decade ago when Renu who was in her 40’s decide to go back to school and renew her passion for art.
She studied at NGMA and then at National museum and eventually went on to start her own small art company, Art Inc. The company was pillared by two stalwarts of the Art Industry, the late Keshav Malik and Dr. Daljeet who helped her establish herself in the field.
Renu has always been passionate about recognizing true talent, regardless f the artists’ background. In her journey in the last 10 years she has come across artists who have used lunch money to buy paints, those who’ve lived in their studios and those who’ve ghost painted for the rich to make ends meet.
And through it all she realized that all these great artists, for all their talent, where not being given any recognition. This harrowed her for years. And then eventually, when Art Inc. Became big enough she decided that enough was enough. It was time to honour the unsung heroes. And so was born the Art Inc. Art Awards. It was created to honor the talent that went unrecognized and also to seek talent that needed the limelight to flourish.
With this in mind, the awards are divided into 3 categories, Painting, sculpture and photography and each category has a seasoned master and a young artist who were selected by a jury of eminent artists like Arpana Caur, Prof. Biman Das, Prof. Niren Sengupta and Hemant Khandelwal.
The “Lifetime achievement award” goes to Ms. Saroj Jain in the sculpture category; Mr. Umesh Verma in the painting category; Mr. O. P. Sharma in the photography category and Dr. Daljeet in the art historian category.
The “Rising Star Award” award goes to Tarun Maity in the sculpture sculpture category; Oinam Dilip in the painting category; Kunaal Bose in the photography category.
Renu Rana hopes that this award will be a resounding call across the nation to let artists know that they are not forgotten and that together, we can change the artscape of India for the better. And discover many more Art Heroes every year with Art Inc. Art Awards.
