FAIR TRADE FORUM INDIA PRESENTED FAIR FASHION SHOW – STYLE ME SUSTAINABLE

A unique fashion show showcasing ensembles made from fair and natural fabrics & fibers.

New Delhi, 10th November 2017: Fair Trade Forum – India and WFTO hosted a one of its kind Fair Fashion Show called Style Me Sustainable, at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Hauz Khas. The unique show showcased ensembles made from Fair/Natural fabrics & fibers, thereby sending out a strong message about setting trends via our traditional crafts. Guest of Honor Mr. Muralidhar Rao, National General Secretary BJP, graced the event with his presence. Diplomats and Ambassadors from Bulgaria, Vietnam, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, was spotted gracing the ramp with their presence in a special sequence curated by Ms. Parul Mahajan. Designer brands and artisans like Upasana, Aagor, Rangasutra and more showcased their creation on the ramp.

Focusing on creating awareness about Slow/Fair /Sustainable Fashion by showcasing trendy ensembles created through the fusion of sustainable fabrics, traditional techniques and modern designs. Fair Fashion is a movement which leads the fashion industry towards a more sustainable future through ethics and aesthetics.

Speaking on the event Mr.Iytha Mallikarjuna- President FTF-I said “We are proud to launch the Artisan movement for New India and am to showcase the work of our Fair Trade groups and NE artisans. We are sure that the support from different Embassies and Ministry of DONER and Textiles will give the required impetus to sustainable Fashion and the artisans behind it.”

The Show emphasizes on making the production environmentally friendly and fair regarding the treatment of its producers. Another aspect of fair fashion in India is to preserve its beautiful heritage of traditional production processes, by combining them with modern styles making them fashionable and thereby strengthening the future of traditional artisans in India.

Fair Trade organizations in India have been instrumental in giving an impetus to Slow/Fair Fashion by introducing and using sustainable fabrics made from natural fibers like cotton, silk, bamboo etc to design trendy apparels and accessories.

By purchasing Fair Fashion products, the consumer supports the use of natural, sustainable, recycled materials, eco-friendly dyes, highly skilled artisans, as well as the preservation of their culture and fashion heritage.
