MUD THERAPY

Mud is one of the five elements of nature which has an immense impact on the body in normal health as well as during sickness.it can be used as a therapeutic agent in naturopathy treatment because of the following reason.

Black colour of the soil absorbs all the colors of the sun.
Mud retains moisture for a long time and has a cooling effect on the body.
The shape and the consistency of mud can be changed easily by adding water.
It is inexpensive and easily available.

The mud used for treatment should be black in colour,rich in clay content and free from pollution and contamination.The mud should be dried,powdered and sieved to separate stones,grass particles and other impurities,before using for the treatment.clay(mud) is fine earth. when taken out from the lower Depth of the ground ,clay is free from microbial flora,retains its grecy quality when wet and impermeable.In case of organic Disorders, its intense activity destroys unhealthy cells and rebuilds healthy cells.it improves the blood supply to the internal organs.clay is a powerful agent of stimulation,transformation and transmission of energy.

Application of clay is effective for indigestion,hyperacidity,colitis,diarrhoea,

gynaecological disorders and urinary problems.

A thick mud pack applied on the head,in the case of congestive headache provides immediate relief from pain
The advantage of mud pack over cold compress is that it retains the coolness for a longer time.

composition of mud (Clay): clay contains the following the ingredients:

Silica – 31.14 – 41.38%
Titanium – 0.47 – 1.89%

Calcium – 0.05 – 0.13%
Aluminium – 40.27 – 48.13%
Iron – 0.11 – 0.78%
Magnesium – 0.05%
Sodium – 0.25 – 0.85%

Potassium – 0.25 – 0.85

Due to the above composition,clay stimulates the evacuation of toxic and non-useful elements.

colours of clay: The colors of clay ranges from black to dark down,yellow,red,green,gray to white.clay is used to prepare talcum powder.it is an excellent deodorant and is effective for sticky feet and hands.it can also be applied on infants.

Temperature for mud: while preparing clay for application on the body,the temperature may vary.clay may be used in cold,hot and warm form.

Methods of application: Depending on the type of health problem,the methods of application can also vary. External application in the form of mud bath,mud packs,compress and poultice can also be undertaken. it can also be applied locally on the abdomen and face.

1. Mud pack for face: Fine mud paste is applied on the face and allowed to dry. The recommended is 30 minutes.

2. Mud pack for eyes: Soaked mud of half inch thickness is placed in a 20 X 15 cm size wet cloth,folded on all sides and placed on the eyes for 20-30 minutes.

Effective in conjunctivitis and haemorrhage in the eyeball,itching of

eyes and allergic conditions

Useful in short sightedness, long sightedness,glaucoma
Reduces tension of the eyeball

3. Mud bath: It is given in a special cubicle where the patient can be exposed to sunlight. The mud paste may be exposed to sunlight. The mud paste may be applied to the patient in a sitting or lying down position for 45-60 minutes. Avoid mud bath during fever and in case of open sores.

Recommended for treating abscess and boils,acne,allergies,alkalosis,anemia,arthritis,bruises,bumps and blows,burns,lumbago,mumps,painful menstruation and sprains,eczema,haemorrhoids,hernia,lymphatic oedema,psoriasis,shingles,problems related to the spinal cord and varicose veins.
can also be used as a deep cleansing mask,instead of shampoo and soap.

Dr. Divya’s status and reputation as an Ayurvedic healer are quite renowned with his impressive ability to cure illnesses when all other treatments have failed. She received his B.A.M.S (BACHELOR OF AYURVEDIC MEDICINE AND SURGERY) from State of Ayurvedic College, Lucknow with a rotational internship in Allopathy and Ayurveda.

Dr Divya is currently the medical officer at SPPC. She is leading the Ayurveda department and managing OPD and IPD patients.She is also responsible for overall administration of the center which includes analysis and performance of the departments as per the business plan.

She has an overall experience of 7 years in the field of Ayurvda and alternate therapy practices. During this course she has essayed a variety of roles.
She has been instrumental in establishing the Panchkarma clinic in Gurgaon (Jeevaniya Ayurveda).
She has experience in alternate medical therapy practice of Salt Room. She was involved in setting up the first ever Salt Room Therapy center in India.
She is also a certified Panchkarma specialist. Currently she is involved in content writing for a book on Basic Principles of Ayurveda Made Simple.
