Season 2 of Pro Wrestling League kicks off with style & panache Olympic medallists designed by Indian Fashion Czars

Olympians  and World Champions walk the ramp embellishing the rich Indian tradition of Turbans

–           Top designers like Rohit Bal, Rohit Gandhi, JJ Vallaya, Ashish Soni design special creation for ace Indian Wrestlers

New Delhi, 3rd November 2016:  In India’s  first fashion show dedicated to  the glory of Indian wrestlers witnessed first of its kind Turban themed fashion show that got celebrated designers Rohit Bal, JJ Vallaya, Ashish Soni and Rohit Gandhi together to design apparels for ace Indian and International wrestlers.  The fashion show organised by ProSportify marked the beginning of second season of Pro Wrestling League that will be played from December 15, 2016 in the country.

After the unparalleled success of the Pro Wrestling League Season 1, ProSportify along with Wrestling Federation of India set the ball rolling in some style today with top Olympians and World Champions walking the ramp in India’s first Turban themed Fashion Show. Star Olympic medallists like Sakshi Malik, Yogeshwar Dutt, Sofia Mattsson and Mariya Stadnik along with CWG medallist Yana Rattigan, Geeta Phogat, Babita Kumari and Bajrang Punia wore vibrant Turbans to mark the occasion depicting the rich Indian history of the headdress from various regions of the country.

Wrestlers ramped up the style quotient wearing collections from world class designers Rohit Bal, JJ Vallaya, Rohit Gandhi and Ashish Soni.  It was a perfect platform, one where sports met fashion again.

Commenting on this, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, President, Wrestling Federation of India said, “Turbans have a rich image in Indian wrestling ethos. We are privileged to witness India’s rich history with star Olympians and World Champions today.”

Speaking at the occasion, Vishal Gurnani, Director, ProSportify said, “2016 is the Year of Wrestling. With 31 days of action, PWL Season 2 is back and it’s going to bigger, bolder and better.”

Said Ashish Soni, “Yogeshwar Dutt is India’s Biggest Male Wrestling Superstar! His Silver Medal at the London Olympics is part of Indian sporting folklore. I am elated to having designed his outfit for the PWL Fashion preview today.”

Said JJ Vallaya, “Geeta Phogat is among India’s most well known wrestlers. Our continous wins at the Rio Olympics and the making of huge Bollywood wrestlers around wrestling have increased the surround sound around wrestling. I am ecstatic to have designed Geeta Phogat’s outfit for the PWL fashion preview today and wish we have more sportswomen who make India proud.

 ABOUT PRO WRESTLING LEAGUE

The Pro Wrestling League (PWL) – Khel Fauladi is a big leap in the history of the oldest combat sport. An initiative of ProSportify and the Wrestling Federation of India, PWL is the one of the richest wrestling events. The league in the inaugural year offered a prize purse of INR 15 crore. PWL with 6 city-based franchisee teams was played across North, South & West Zones in India being live telecasted through MSM Network Pvt Ltd across 60 countries. Each team had 9 players – 5 Indians, 4 international including 5 men and 4 women. In the inaugural year, PWL featured a total of 18 ties – 15 in the league phase, 2 semi-finals and the Grand Finale. The League is played under the PWL Rules, based on Olympic rules in conjunction with Wrestling Federation of India rules.

This year the league will be a month long tournament with eight franchisees and increased venues.
