After successfully implementing the School and Student Transformation initiative pilot at Ravindranagar (Jalahalli) in Bengaluru, The Akshaya Patra Foundation has started working in GLPS Medarahalli Model School in Bengaluru city.
This school will be funded by Lowe’s India Company. On 16th May, 2019, the Foundation performed a Bhoomi Puja at GLPS Medarahalli in the presence of employees from the Lowe’s India Company, school students, and teachers.
Akshaya Patra has planned to upgrade the infrastructure and improve health, hygiene and sanitation at the school as a part of the initiative. In addition, the school will be equipped with innovative teaching aids, a kitchen garden, etc.
Over the course of the next few months, the Foundation aims to implement the Model School initiative in various other parts of the country where it serves school lunch as a part of the Mid-Day Meal Programme.
