20th April 2017, New Delhi- Designer Sumona Parekh hosted an evening for preview of Nawabi Collection at Kayra, The Multi Designer store. The models showcased the “Nawabi Collection” inspired by the graceful and elegant Mughal Architecture from the city of Nawabs.
Nur-Jahan wife of Emperor Jahangir was the first patron and inventor of Chikan Embroidery in the 16th Century. She was inspired by the relief and embossed decorative motif which was being used in decoration of Mughal Architectural Building.
They have followed a common theme of affordable luxury which show cases Indian Traditions with base of Chikenkari in Modern Easy flowy comfortable feel, Silhouettes in a contemporary look. The fabrics used in this collection are Georgettes, Silk, Tussar Georgette, and Net in pastel summer shades like Peach, Pinks & greens with hint of Vibrance into it. Sumona’s “Nawabi Collection” provides a refreshing taste of Bridal garments highlighted with minimalistic embroidery yet tastefully blended with classic element.
